Peter Pan

Do you believe in fairies?

Boys and girls are invited to think happy thoughts and join Peter Pan as he flies in for a fun summer panto this half term. The boy who never grew up is joined by a band of swashbuckling pirates, a rabble of lost boys, mermaids, Indians and even a bloodthirsty crocodile in this adaptation of JM Barrie's classic fairytale.

When the Darling children fly through their nursery window with Peter Pan they begin the most exciting adventure of their lives in Neverland. And in this show the audience is invited to come along and join them - helping warn Peter about the pirates, making fairies appear and singing along with Smee the hopeless pirate.

Daniel Clarkson provides plenty of laughs in his roles as Big Chief Running Nose and Smudge, sidekick of the evil Captain Hook (Stephen Donald).

Its a modern take on a tale which is almost 100 years old with a roller-booted Tinker Bell (Nichola Lagan), pop songs and plenty of topical (if truly terrible) jokes.

It may not be Christmas, but the panto spirit has definitely arrived. Oh yes it has!

Its panto time. Oh yes it is.

It may be nearly summer but the Forum has decided to put on a show normally reserved for winter.

And there was no shortage of takers. the theatre was packed with kiddies big and small ready to cheer the goodies. A large number had come in fancy dress, as pirates and fairies, for the occasion.

All the elements of the traditional panto are here. We have a flying principal boy (Helen Power), a thoroughly menacing Captain Hook (Stephen Donald) and a Wendy (Hannah Block) who would sweeten the most sour of characters.

We also have a great comic in Tony Howes, who plays pirate Smee, and the brigands' rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody has to be seen to be believed.

Audience participation is, of course, encouraged and any show that can persuade large numbers of people to shout out that they believe in fairies can't be doing badly.
